Thsi is a great story! I'll have more to say after I get home and can really sit down and read. And make the text bigger, the eyes aren't as good as they used to be. There will be a sequel, I just am not sure when. remember, this is not canon, it is way out of canon. Straker's life changes in this. Come to think of it, Ford's life changes in this. IP Logged

Of course when it goes up I'll see all the errors. Putting a story out is like sending your kid to school for the first time. You want them to be liked, and have friends. Putting a story out is putting your soul out. IP Logged

But that must mean that I'm improving, that's a good thing, right? : Writers improve as they practice their craft. It's just the way it is. Many authors won't even reread their early works, because they're so embarrassed by them. I don't think they should be so critical of themselves. It's a growing process, after all. Are you disgusted with a child because they're young? That would be silly. We should be proud of our beginnings. They led us to where we are today. I suppose I should define what I meant by 'worst stories.' I wasn't referring to early works of UFO fanfic writers (with their inevitable deficiencies.) I was referring to those occasional stories that we read that bear absolutely no resemblance to the show it came from. *sigh* I guess I've been thinking about the new movie and how awful it's going to be. I know Gratzner said he loved the show, but I have to wonder if he ever even watched it! Anyway, that's what I meant when I made the comment. Not early works. Just ones that really don't have anything to do with UFO. The sky is not the limit; nor are the stars. WWW IP Logged

And since we all see the show through our own lives, it's possible that he would still see it the same way. It's just so depressing. I would have enjoyed a good remake -- along the order of the recent new Star Trek perhaps (which wasn't the Kirk we knew, but it was hilarious!) I wouldn't have minded a more sarcastic Straker. But it's not going to be anything like the original show at all. The sky is not the limit; nor are the stars. WWW IP Logged
